About Bodegas Yaiza
Yaiza is Lanzarote's most recognisable wine, famous for its distinctive blue bottles. Produced by Bodegas Vega de Yuco — established in 1997 in the valley between Masdache and Montaña Blanca — Yaiza wines are a symbol of modern Lanzarote winemaking. Winemaker Tomas Mesa, from a well-known family of winemakers in Tenerife, leads production using a blend of traditional methods and modern technology.
The iconic blue bottle was introduced in the early 2000s and quickly became the most recognised wine souvenir from Lanzarote. The whites and rosé come in the famous blue glass. For the premium range, Gara — the big brother of Yaiza — uses a higher grade of grape and comes in a stunning smoked black glass bottle that blends into the recognisable blue at the top.

Can I try Yaiza wine by the glass?
Yes! Yaiza is the wine we offer by the glass (€6) on the terrace. Our wine tasting is €14 for 4 glasses — choose a Yaiza Board (Rosado, Seco, Semi-Dulce, Afrutado) or Red Board (Tinto, Volcano, Ribera, Rioja), or mix and match.

The iconic blue bottle was introduced by Bodegas Vega de Yuco in the early 2000s. It represents the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote meeting the blue Atlantic Ocean, and has become the most recognised wine souvenir from the island.
What grape is Yaiza wine made from?
Most Yaiza wines are made from Malvasía Volcánica — a grape variety unique to the Canary Islands that thrives in Lanzarote's volcanic ash soil. The Afrutado blend also includes Moscatel and Diego grapes.
